Cherry Crisp

I am leaving tomorrow to attend the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, TX.

Because of this, I really wanted to leave my family a little treat for the weekend.

What I liked about making this crisp was how easy this recipe was to follow! I found that by making sure the butter was melted, it made the batter easier to blend together.

I also realized that I should have made two (I ate the whole thing!!)

I hope you enjoy this crisp as much as I did!

  • 1 stick butter, melted

  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar

  • 1 cup flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup oatmeal

  • 16 ounce cherry pie filling


  • Cream together butter and brown sugar. (I melted mine so that it was easier to mix.)
  • Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Combine with butter mixture.
  • Fold in oatmeal.
  • Spread half of batter into a greased 9×9 inch baking dish.
  • Spread cherry pie filling on top, followed by the remaining mixture.
  • Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream!
